"'All Hope Is Gone' is a classic-style SLIPKNOT track pure and simple, but this fucker is jacked up a few thousand volts!" drummer Joey Jordison told Kerrang! magazine. "The song, music and theme speak for itself. It's a song about the world at stake: all the situations at hand, be it personal or worldly, and trying to turn things into a positive. Sometimes you have to face the grotesque to bring about something amazing." Jordison revealed that "All Hope Is Gone" is a true collaborative effort and was one of the final songs recorded for the band's follow-up to 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", which is also called "All Hope Is Gone". "I actually demoed this song alone and didn't know what would come of it as we were nearing the end of the album," he said. "I was hoping it would make it. I knew it would, once everyone spewed their venom upon it. "A lot of the grind riffs for the verses changed into riffs Paul [Gray, bassist] had years ago, way before SLIPKNOT," he added. "Funny how things won't die. Mick [Thomson, guitarist] came in and fucking set fire to the track and Jim [Root, guitarist] followed as well. Once Corey [Taylor, frontman] put his fucking vocals on it, that was it, man. That guy's voice and conviction could sell narcotics to a nun." 2008-06-19 16:33 Corey(8) comments temp. disabled

"The nine" will spend their summer laying waste to arenas in North America as they headline the first annual Rock Star Energy Mayhem Festival. As Slipknot's first tour in three years, these dates are sure to bring the band's legion of diehard fans, affectionately dubbed "maggots," out in full force. All Hope is Gone is more of a statement than a record. Corey Taylor comments, "Every album we have made is a statement about that space in time. I think this era is the most mature, most beautiful and the most powerful. We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men. I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong." The album promises to blend elements of 2004's Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and 2001's Iowa, while adding a perspective, freshness and depth that only three years apart can bring. The first single "Psychosocial" will be delivered to radio on June 30 and will be available digitally on July 1. A complete track listing will be announced shortly. Slipknot is the ever-evolving definitive voice in hard rock music. They are pioneers of an alternative metal scene, where scarring riffs and thunderous percussion are punctuated by vocals, which seamlessly shift from brutal to melodic within a breath. The band's previous studio albums, Slipknot, Iowa, Vol.3:(The Subliminal Verses) have all been certified platinum or better, as have their DVDs, Welcome to Our Neighborhood, Disasterpieces and Voliminal: Inside the Nine. The double live 9.0: Live holds a gold certification. 2008-06-17 13:32 Corey(8) comments temp. disabled

"Clown from Slipknot was on the hotLine yesterday with Lou (I got to say hello, too!) and it was cool catching up with him. We caught him while he was shopping for tables for his storage area, since in Iowa, there's been all kinds of horrible weather and water problems. He is getting ready for a flood warning and doesn't want to lose any equipment, artwork, memorablia and other stuff he has in storage. So he has to get everything off the floor! Hope the waters recede for him and everyone else in IA and WI! Anyhow, from what we can glean from the chat, rehearsals begin on Monday, and Shawn is heading out today for a short tour with his other band, Dirty Little Rabbits, who are opening for Mindless Self Indulgence. He said it looks like DLR have signed to The End label, home of MSI. When asked about the production for the 'Knot tour, he told us they are talking about getting back to basics, like they were on their first tour, but with new outfits and masks. And no, those "death masks" that you've seen on the website are NOT the new masks. They were actually used in the band's video for "Vermilion" originally. And Clown, who is the artistic director for the band, decided to use them for visual enhancement and keep things interesting. It certainly had a lot of us wondering, that's for sure! Anyhow, the metal track (which is the title track) comes out this weekend, so be sure to keep and eye on the websites, and the radio track is coming on the 30th, which Clown says has "gang vocals" in it. I am going to get a listen to select songs on the record next week and I can NOT wait...." |
