Blabbermouth.net: SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor's new solo project, COREY TAYLOR AND THE JUNK BEER KIDNAP BAND, made its Los Angeles live debut at the Key Club in Hollywood, California as the support act for STEEL PANTHER.

According to Rick Florino of ARTISTdirect, the band kicked off the festivities with a metallic cover of PRINCE's "Let's Go Crazy". "Taylor was all smiles as he riffed out the main verse, belting out the refrain with gusto and grit. 'Through Glass' saw Taylor's STONE SOUR comrades, Roy Mayorga and Shawn Economacki join him. It's one of those rare hits that gets better with each performance. 'Shine' was another fiery bruiser, and Taylor tore through it with swagger and substance.

"'Bother' brought the set into emotional territory, while allowing the singer to showcase those immense pipes. Everything ended with a pummeling and powerful cover of NINE INCH NAILS' 'Wish' that saw a shirtless Taylor thrashing about with SLIPKNOT-level intensity and something of a cathartic sensitivity. Bassist Jason Christopher kept smiling though as he seamlessly pounded away the groove, and Taylor flashed a grin and a middle finger as the song's distorted din rumbled into the distance."

Blabbermouth.net: The U.K. branch of Roadrunner Records has posted video footage of SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor talking about the tenth anniversary of the release of the band's self-titled debut album. Watch the six-minute clip below.

The special-edition CD/DVD reissue of "Slipknot" sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first, shortened week of release (the set came out on Wednesday, September 9 whereas new albums usually go on sale on Tuesdays in the U.S.). The album has now shifted more than two million units domestically, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Slipknot1.com: Des Moines, IA – Iowa’s own M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan will be making his debut into the world of contemporary art with his first gallery showing. On September 24th Crahan, best known as the visionary and founding member of hard rock act Slipknot, will host a showing at the Kirkwood Hotel from 7:00pm-12:00am in celebration of his birthday. The show will feature a wide variety of work by Crahan including a number of acrylic on canvas paintings, framed photography, prints, and some of the Polaroids from his upcoming book, The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey. Also on display will be the jewelry of Chantel Crahan, paintings by Frank Hansen, and paintings and films by Scott Kaven. The evening will be curated by the Des Moines based Moberg Gallery.

There will be live entertainment throughout the night as well as food and drinks. Mike Pfaff and Jeff Karnowski, of Shawn’s band Dirty Little Rabbits, will be performing Jazz/World Music during the evening as well as a second set of cover songs with their group The $nack$. Also appearing will be DJ Starscream, better known as Sid Wilson DJ of Slipknot, performing with the Sound Proof Coalition.

When asked, Crahan had this to say about the upcoming event, “My first gallery showing is truly the realization of a lifelong dream. Polaroid photography has helped open the doors in my mind about layering, saturation and backgrounds. Then of course there’s painting. I feel as though I’ve waited my whole life to be able to enjoy what I always imagined painting to be. This is now reality. Painting is one of the only artistic expressions that brings me ultimate happiness and freedom. This show is a fun way to have an evening dedicated to the celebration of everyone’s ambitions and love for art, whatever their medium may be. So, artists everywhere come as you are.”
